Most people who develop mesothelioma have been exposed to asbestos in the past. Mesothelioma, a cancer of the mesothelium grows mainly in the mucosa of the lungs and abdomen and that takes decades for cancer symptoms to surface. The main symptoms are chest pain and difficulty breathing.
