Diffuse Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma

Mesothelioma is the most common primary tumors pleura.There two main types;
1], localized mesothelioma (benign and malignant types) 2], Diffuse malignant Mesothelioma
Causes
More strong correlation between exposure to asbestos and developing mesothelioma, although a history of exposure is not always obtained in patients who are 2 types mesothelioma.There asbestos fibers on the basis of the crystal structure of chrysotile serpentine () and b-amphiboles.
Included in the amphiboles are amosite, tremolte, crocidolite, and more harmful anthophyllite.The crocidolite, or better known as blue asbestos.
Localized Benign Mesothelioma
These problems are characteristic of the inner layer of the pleura
The symptoms and signs;
Pain the chest, shortness of breath, mostly non no symptoms) (asymptomatic, these tumors are usually detected in routine chest X-ray hypoglycemia (sugar blood) is sometimes associated with treatment
Surgery is the mainstay of treatment, the tumor is removed by the surgeon and RECCURENCE is rare and when it reaches the transition the malignant form of tumor should be suspected.
Localized Malignant Mesothelioma
The symptoms and signs;
Chest pain, fever, cough, shortness breath
Treatment
Surgery is the treatment of choice, although the prognosis is very poor
Diffuse malignant mesothelioma
This type of mesothelioma may arise from any part of the pleura and often extend into the peritoneal cavity and the ribs and chest wall (Peritoneal Mesothelioma and Pericardial Mesothelioma). In addition, commonly spreads to the liver, brain and adrenal glands glands.Histologically malignant mesothelioma have both sarcomatous mesothelioma fibrous () and (papillary epithelial) components.
Research
CT-scan of the chest is useful in diagnosing the extent of tumor. Biopsy needle (the surgeon inserts a needle into the pleura to sample the tumor that led to the lab to see under the microscope) of the pleura is a duty.
Pleural fluid is absorbed and taken to the laboratory for microscopic analysis.
Staging of malignant Pleural Mesothelioma
Stage 1: Participation of the pleura and the lung ipsilateral (in a single left lung or right lung)
-Step 2-The chest wall involvement (mediastinum structure in the middle of the heart), the pericardium, the contralateral side () pleura
Stage 3-blood-distance spread to other organs like the brain, glands adrenal
Treatment
The treatment is completely ineffective and rarely survive more than 2 years with an average of 10-14 cases selected in the months.In Phase 1 has pleuropneumonectomy radical surgery (removal of the lungs and pleura) may be effective but long-term survival than radiotherapy rare.Primary can also be used. Combination chemotherapy using single agent or combination of protocols have also been used, but the prognosis remains bleak.
